# Telemetry (Polestar Charging Telemetry) — Privacy Policy

*Last updated: 17 August 2026*

Telemetry (`com.tagadaisai.polestar`) is a personal companion app for Android
Automotive OS that displays electric-vehicle charging telemetry from the
owner's own self-hosted server. This policy explains what the app accesses and
where that data goes.

## What the app collects

1. **Vehicle data read in the car.** With your permission (the Android
"car information" permission), the app reads charge-port state, battery
level, charge state and the configured charge limit from the vehicle. This
is used to display live status and to notify the linked server that a
   charging session may have started.
2. **Telemetry from the linked server.** The app fetches battery level, range,
odometer and charge-history data over HTTPS from our server. That server
holds the vehicle data associated with your own vehicle account.
3. **Google sign-in (optional).** If you link the app using "Sign in with
Google", the app sends a one-time Google identity token to the linked
server, which uses it only to look up your existing account and return your
vehicle's link key. The token is not stored, and no account is created.
Linking can also be done without Google sign-in by entering a link key
   manually.

## What the app does not do

1. No advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
2. No data is sold, rented, or shared with third parties.
3. No personal information is collected beyond what is described above.
4. Nothing is transmitted anywhere except to the server you explicitly link.

## Data retention and deletion

Vehicle telemetry is retained on the linked server to provide charge history
and statistics. To unlink the app, use "Unlink this car" in Settings, which
removes the stored link key from the device. To have server-side data removed,
contact the address below.
